ABOUT
Vasco Prazeres was born in Lisbon in 1999. He is a filmmaker and photographer whose work focuses on people, communities and their relationship with the places they inhabit.
The ocean and the connection between people and their surroundings are recurring themes throughout his work. Moving between documentary filmmaking, photography and observation of everyday life, he is interested in stories shaped by identity, memory and the relationship with nature.
In 2025, he directed Filhos da Cratera, a documentary filmed in Chã das Caldeiras, on the island of Fogo, Cape Verde. The film follows six residents living within an active volcanic landscape, exploring themes of belonging, loss, memory and rebuilding through their personal experiences.
He is currently developing new documentary projects exploring the relationship between communities, territory and nature, with a focus on intimate and visually driven storytelling.
